XPAT Assessment (Evaluation)
If you want or need to clarify whether a patent specification claims features that you yourself use or if you yourself are planning an application with certain claim features, then the XPAT Assessment module can be used to ensure that these feature relationships can be analyzed and assessed in detail as part of a feature analysis in the IP rights.
Mark features
A patent document can be transferred directly from the XPAT database to the XPAT Assessment Module. There you have a mask available in which you can mark / click individual characteristics in color and transfer them to an assessment table. These colored markings are provided with characteristic designations for clarification.
Classify features
In this evaluation table, the individual features can be evaluated in terms of their significance for your own company. In addition to explanations, it is also recorded whether the technology has already been used with the aid of this particular feature, or whether the feature has already been used in other documents. Accordingly, the important features of a document are determined here from a current point of view and recorded in a comprehensible manner. At a later point in time, the document can of course be re-evaluated in the light of new findings or circumstances.
Relate features to other, similar documents
If you are satisfied with the selection of characteristics, you can transfer the characteristics to a comparison list (document hit list). This is because the characteristics are not to be considered in isolation, but are brought into a relationship with other documents. Thus, one can evaluate in the hit list document by document which feature is very pronounced, pronounced, less pronounced or not present at all in the document in question. With the appropriate authorization in the system, the evaluation can be viewed again at any time. Valuable and detailed insights can be gained from this, which form an outstanding and comprehensive basis for both internal decisions and decisions in patent disputes.
